Disco Dance
The first of the year dance is Friday night, Sept 14, following the home football game against Skyline. Students need to buy their tickets this week. No tickets will be available at the door. Guest passes for students not attending Newport are in the office and need to be turned in by Tuesday the 11th. Remember, if your student does not attend school on Friday, he/she will not be admitted to the dance, even if he/she has purchased a ticket. And do come to the football game against Skyline on the 14th; it’s a big one!!
A quick note - to us old folks, "disco" equals "Saturday Night Fever." To a high school student, "disco" equals whatever PG-13 movie came out last with dancing in it. The normal dress code still applies.

Sweats
Order forms for Class of 2011 and sample sizes of the sweats are available in the Commons during both lunches. Orders are due by lunchtime on Friday, September 14th . Orders will be available for pick-up during Homecoming Week (first week of October).

Picture Re-takes & Picture ID
Anyone who missed pictures on Check In Day needs to come to the Commons on Wednesday, Sept 12, after 12:40. This is your last chance to get a photo ASB card. An ASB card is required for free admittance to sporting events at Newport.
Attention students attending athletic events!
Please make sure to bring your current 07/08 ASB card to all Football, Volleyball and Soccer games so you can get in free! If you have not paid for ASB and would like to, you can do this at the Accounting office located in the commons area.

All- School Play
Try-outs for the All-School-Play Much Ado About Nothing will be September 20th and 21st in the Drama room from 3:15-5:30. Try out information is available in the Commons at lunch.

The Daily Bulletin can be read at http://schools.bsd405.org/nhs/homepage/index.html. It’s worth reading regularly.
Select the "Newport" button, which will present you with a drop down to which you may select the "Daily Bulletin".
You also can receive the Daily Bulletin as a daily email. To receive the daily emails send a note to suppesj@bsd405.org If you did send a note to receive it through email, and are not receiving it yet, she might have had some technical problems and didn’t get your name added to the list. Don’t hesitate to make a second request.

Big Events
Hope to see you at both of these:
· The first PTA meeting is on Sept 19 at 7:00 in the Library.
· Open House/Classroom Bucks is on Sept 25. There will be class meetings at 6:15, then you get to visit your student’s teachers starting at 7:00. During the evening, we will collect money for our annual “Classroom Bucks” fundraiser, which is all given to our wonderful teachers in the form of grants. Please give generously! Virtually every sort of booster wear, booster gear, and booster food will be on display and available for purchase on Open House night. Be sure to have a checkbook full of checks and a pocket full of cash for this night!! You will also be able to pick up your school Directory
