Open House/Classroom Bucks
Just a quick reminder

Tuesday night 7:00 p.m.- Freshman Class Meeting with counselors 6:15-6:55 in the new Theater– be early – carpool – booster gear shopping

Classroom Bucks – for classroom grants – give generously – matching funds welcome

Open House
Open House is Tuesday, Sept 25, starting at 7:00 pm. Before this will be Class Meetings with counselors from 6:15 to 6:55:
Freshmen, 9th Grade: Theater
Sophomores, 10th Grade: Main Gym
Juniors, 11th Grade: Outside Gym
Seniors, 12th Grade: Library

Student schedules can be picked up in the Commons area across from the main entrance. Students can save their parents time if they provide classes and room numbers ahead of time. Maps will also be available. PTA Directories can be picked up in the Commons across from the Activities Office. All student groups and clubs will have tables setup in the Upper Commons with lots of great stuff for sale.

Student Volunteers will be visiting each class during the first five minutes of 2nd period to collect money for the PTA Fundraiser, Classroom Bucks. There will be announcements made explaining that this is money that goes directly back to teachers and classrooms in the form of Teacher Grants.

Newport Robotics Group
The Robotics Group will be collecting used cell phones at the Open House to help raise money for the season.

FUTURE BY DESIGN – BSD COLLEGE CONFERENCE
We are having a Bellevue District College Conference (for Newport, Sammamish and Robinswood students and families) here at Newport HS on Thursday, October 11 for students and parents of all grade levels.

The conference is set up so there are 3 break-out sessions on a variety of important topics that help students get ready and learn about college, their options and applying.

It’s that time – all the entry info you could possibly need is attached. Reflections is a National PTA program to support the arts in schools. All students are encouraged to submit entries. More information and entry forms can be found at http://www.newportptsa.org/

Study Strategies Student Workshop – sign up before it is too late!

Newport staff is offering a free three-part study skills workshop for students. These workshops are open to the first thirty students that sign up in the main office. The workshops will be held on October 8th, 15th, and 22nd from 3-4 p.m. Students are expected to attend all 3 sessions.

Content includes: organization, time management, test taking strategies, math reflection and reading strategies, resources (online, school & community), questioning strategies, not taking techniques, responding to prompts, test anxiety reducers, etc.

FONO

FONO will be having their Rummage Sale on Saturday, September 29th in NHS Commons from 9am-4pm. Proceeds to benefit the orchestra. Donations for the Rummage Sale will be accepted on Friday, September 28th from 3-9pm, in the Newport Commons. Donations are tax deductible, receipts available upon request. Please NO computer items, large appliances or ski equipment. This is your chance to share your no longer needed items with new individuals and find your one of a kind, what you always been looking for purchase, at a price you could never have imagined! The Orchestra thanks you for your support!!!

Pictures
There are lots of pictures still to be picked up from Check in days! If you bought a picture package, please come to the main office before or after school, or during lunch. If you don’t like your pictures, Picture Retakes are scheduled for Wednesday, October 10th. Bring your package with you for retakes
