Survey for Newport Parents

Every two years, the Program Delivery Council (PDC) is required to take a survey about our block schedule. This is part of the process set up with the teachers' union (Bellevue Education Association or BEA) to get their approval to keep it in place. PDC has made this really easy this year, thanks to Eric Dawes and Al Garman, by putting the survey on-line. Click on the link below to complete the survey.

Please review the background information of why the survey is required. The only change being recommended (which would be effective next year) is changing the release time on Wednesdays from 12:40 to 12:30.

At the bottom of the page is place to create a profile for login to take the survey. Be assured that this information is strictly confidential, and is only needed to verify results. You must log-in before taking the survey. The survey takes less than five minutes. The deadline for the survey is February 15th, so do it today!

The website for the survey is: http://www.cfmm.com/sites/NewportHS/SurveyStart.asp?SID=79

FYI - question #3 - NEVAC courses are two-period block career classes offered at high schools throughout the area. NHS offers Culinary Arts, CISCO & Teaching Academy. Other schools offer Auto Shop and other vocational programs. They are open to eleventh and twelfth graders. Full information is available at www.nevac.org

Thanks for your time,

Class of 2011-January Events

Wasn't Tuesday a lot of fun? Lessons learned:
- Listen to the radio for school delays or cancellations, or check network websites. King 5 does a good job of school updates.
- The district website also has updated info http://www.schoolreport.org
- If your streets are impassable, don't leave the house, even if the school is open. Just write a note explaining lateness/absence.

On to the news of the day:

Focus Day Buses! Please mark your calendars - PTA Focus Day in Olympia - Wednesday February 13th - An Opportunity to Make a Difference.

"Focus Day" is an event sponsored annually by the Washington State PTA. On Focus Day (this year it's Wednesday February 13), citizens from all over Washington State converge on the state capitol in Olympia and meet face-to-face with their legislators to advocate for laws benefiting our children. The large numbers of parents (and students) who participate annually in this event send a very powerful message to our legislators, and this really does make a difference!

Reflections Exhibit

This year there are entries from all but two schools. Even Robinswood students are represented!! Kudos to our own Reflections Chair, Al Garman, for all his great work this year.
