The Bellevue Education Association is sponsoring a Curriculum Conversation for all K-12 Parents on Tuesday, March 25th at 6:30 p.m. at the International School. This is an opportunity for teachers and parents to discuss how the district curriculum impacts BSD students. The International School is at 445 128th Avenue SE in Bellevue.

March 26 PTSA Meeting
Presentation on Auto Insurance from 7:00 to 7:30 followed by our usual business meeting at 7:30 p.m. Especially helpful if your teen is just about ready to drive!!

We’ll also hear from the Remodel Committee, which has been working to find ways to spend all the funds which have been raised expressly for the new building. Come hear what the Principal and PTSA, the Athletic Director and KABA, and Music Departments and KFAB have agreed to request.

Tile Purchase Deadline – April 4, 2008 - Last Chance!!
We've been challenged by the Senior Class to get enough money to buy at least one Class of 2011 tile!!! Our Freshman Class has a grand total of $30 donated to date. We can do better than that! We need $170 by April 4th. Just drop a check at the front office with Tile-Class of 2011 (no order form necessary)

There are still a few spaces left in the block that will be installed right next to the stairs, around the corner from where the first tiles are installed.

Seriously. No extensions. On April 7 we are driving to the engraver in Tacoma and leaving the tiles there. These tiles will be installed before the end of the school year! All proceeds go toward capital projects at the school, like the improvements to the Theater, and new computer carts for the classrooms. We have a great new building, now we just need to make sure that we get the most out of what we have.

Two lines with fifteen characters each are $200, four lines are $500.

Have an idea for a club or sports team? Let me know, and we will figure it out.

Order forms can be found at www.newportptsa.org.

Piano Auditions

Newport has a beautiful new theater. and really awful pianos!! To change this, the "Knights Fine Arts Boosters" organization is raising funds to buy a Steinway! If your student is a piano player, auditions are being held for the opportunity to perform on a Steinway piano in the NHS Theater, together with recording artist, author, and Boston Conservatory professor Janice Weber/ Applications are due April 16th, and the recital will be May 1st.

A couple of quick things:

GLO-LO Tickets on sale tomorrow!

Last chance to buy Glo-Lo tickets will be tomorrow during both lunches and after school. $4 with ASB and $5 without. Bring your money. No tickets will be sold on Friday. Glo Sticks will be sold at the door.

Glo-lo is not a date dance, but it definitely is as fun as the disco dance. For this dance, kids dress up in white/neon - things that will glow in the black light, which is where the name comes from!
We need chaperones. Please contact Gil James jamesg@bsd405.org if you can help.

More Bond Calling Info
If you can't come down tonight or tomorrow to make calls, please, please talk to at least 5 friends and neighbors about the Bond. Let them know that construction costs skyrocketed while the first buildings were completed, and that in order to finish the remaining buildings, we need their support!!

If you or your student CAN call tonight or tomorrow, here are some great directions:

The phone bank time is 5:15-7:15 PM, but if you arrive late they will allow you to make calls until 8:30 PM.
The address of the Puget Sound Energy (PSE) building is 10885 NE 4th St. in downtown Bellevue at the intersection of 108th and NE 4th.
The best parking garage entrance is off 110th just south of NE 4th.
You need to be heading southbound on 110th to make the turn into the garage (not possible due to a barrier if heading northbound on 110th). Once you enter the garage you can park on Levels 1-4 after 5 PM in any spot marked visitor or monthly parking.
Leave your parking ticket in your car, since they will provide you with a parking coupon to show the parking attendant when you leave.
Take an elevator to the lobby and wait for a security guard at the sign on the easel that says Bellevue Quality Schools.
Security will send you up to the 9th floor via secured elevators.
Once you are on the 9th floor follow yellow signs printed with arrows pointing to Bellevue Quality Schools.
Get some complimentary food in the lunch room then go into the conference room to get training on how to make calls.
Make sure you sign-in and get your parking coupon.

WASL Testing

The first week of WASL testing will start on Monday, March 10. Friday, March 15, is a normal school day. Schedule posted on the daily bulletin website http://schools.bsd405.org/nhs/homepage/newport/bulletin/bulletin.html
