Town Hall Meeting

Wednesday April 2 (tomorrow!), the Bellevue School District is hosting a Town Hall Meeting to discuss issues around alcohol. If you missed the excellent PTSA meeting on the subject, this is your next best opportunity. Sammamish HS - 6:00 p.m.

Come to Banquets for Books, a semi-formal Kenyan benefit dinner catered by Newport High School's Culinary Arts class. See the "Rough Cut" Invisible Children Documentary and Entertainment from "Oven Fresh" on Saturday, April 19th, Newport High School Commons. Invisible Children is a non-profit organization that helps the Northern Uganda people. As of now, efforts are going toward helping the peace process, bettering the living conditions and giving children an education.

Newport to host College Recruiting Seminar

"The Realities of the College Recruiting Process"
Presented by Scott Brayton Founder of Varsity Student Institute
Wednesday, May 7th, 7:00 pm at Newport High School - Main Gym - Free Admission
Educate high school athletes and families about the recruiting and college selection process. Help guide them to helpful resources and information. Awareness of NCAA clearinghouse and the NCAA rules and regulations. Real stories about the process.

Knight Valor Assembly
The Knight Valor Assembly (where the awards for 100 hours of community service are given out) will be on May 20th. Students hoping to earn Knight Valor status this year & be honored in the ceremony should have their paperwork for these hours turned in by April 18. If they miss this deadline, they can go through the ceremony next year and up to their Senior year. Questions about Knight Valor hours can be directed to Margaret Connelly at margconnelly@gmail.com.

There will be Freshman who have earned this status!

Kudos to Drill!
Good news! The NHS Drill Team are the new State 3A Drill Team Champions! They received incredible scores! Their Drill can be found on YouTube.com under Newport Drill State. Click on the 2008 performance. Many thanks to the parents who purchased a tile to commemorate this achievement!!

Kudos to Newport Girls JV Water Polo
A huge congrats to our girls JV team, with a first place win in the JV tourney Saturday - through rain, sleet and snow they won it all - wrapping up the tourney with a 12-8 victory over rival MI in a snow storm!!
