DAILY BULLETIN
The Daily Bulletin at Newport’s web site has been updated! It’s interesting to visit occasionally to find out what’s going on at Newport. Point your browser to the Newport web site at http://schools.bsd405.org/nhs/homepage/index.html and click on “Daily Bulletin.” You will find interesting information especially helpful to Freshman (and parents) as school starts (for example, upcoming Spirit Week) – so check this daily if you can.

If you click on all events, you will see a master list of the calendar of events for the school year that includes sports, drama, PTSA, band, dances, etc…
Picture retake day is Sept 12th
All students must have a picture ID, even if they don’t buy pictures or pay for ASB.
September PTA Meeting
The first meeting of the year is on Sept 19 at 7:00 pm in the school library. Please join us to see old friends and meet some new ones! Don’t worry if you aren’t a committee chair. This is a general meeting of our membership, and everyone is encouraged to attend. You’ll even get to vote!
Volunteer This Year – did you turn in your pink volunteer form?We hope THIS is the year you choose to be active in our Newport Community (if you haven't already!). We also encourage you to VOLUNTEER to support the school, the students, and/or the PTSA. That is our primary means for getting help throughout the year. If you are interested in helping in the office, or bringing in treats for events, or a variety of other jobs, just indicate it on the form and send it in. You can even have your student turn it into the office.
Open House/Classroom Bucks
Save Tuesday, September 25th for the Newport Back-to-School night! You have a chance to meet the grade counselors, meet your student's teachers, hear a great deal about the school and its programs, and even toss a couple bucks toward our PTSA in the Classroom Bucks
fund-raiser! More information to come…
Tile Fundraiser
We finally have our first set of tiles installed in the new student courtyard! Next time you are at the school, take a minute to go out by the stairs and take a look. If you bought a tile, you can find it. If this inspires you to buy a tile, you received a form in your fall packet. You can also go to the website, www.newportptsa.org. The deadline for the next round of tiles is December 1.
Summer Reading
Time is running out for reading that book and getting the packet entered into Turnitin.com. If you had troubles with the links before, they are now fixed.
Class of 2008 Garage Sale
The Senior Party Committee is having a huge garage sale on September 8th. You can donate items or just come and shop! 16 Lopez Key, Newport Shores, 9:00-5:00. For more information contact Barb Franklin nhsclassof2008@comcast.net
